The NEC MultiSync A700 goes to the head of its class with digital image-quality control and features not found on most monitors in its price range. NEC's OptiClear screen surface treatment reduces glare and enhances contrast and focus. The 17-inch, flat-square unit has a 15.6-inch viewable area, 0.28mm dot pitch and 1280x1024 maximum resolution at 65Hz. Its vertical scan ranges from 55Hz to 120Hz; horizontal ranges from 31kHz to 69kHz. $649
