Okidata wanted to add a small and easy-to-use laser printer to its product line. The result: the Okidata Okipage 4w printer, which measures 5.9 by 12.2 by 7.5 inches, weighs 8.4 pounds and prints 4ppm at 600dpi. It's so small and light, you can easily take it with you from the office when you go home or when you hit the road.
Is the Okipage 4w easy to use? All you need to do is snap in the toner and image drum, plug the cable into your PC, place the paper and press the Print button. Dialog boxes tell you when to refill paper or if the printer requires attention.
The device comes with 128KB of memory and a 100-sheet autofeeder, supports all versions of Windows, and prints envelopes, mailing label stock and overhead transparencies. The printer's output tray holds 30 sheets.
Okidata uses a microfine spherical toner for fine printing. The Okipage 4w has an unlimited font capacity.

IBM is rolling out a network printer arsenal, highlighted by a 24ppm monochrome laser printer and a full-color laser printer. The IBM Network Printer 24 uses a 66MHz processor and prints at 600dpi with TrueRes image-enhancement technology. The model ships standard with one 100- and two 500-sheet input paper trays, and can hold 3,100 sheets with its high-capacity input option.
The IBM Network Color Printer prints color at 3ppm and 1.5ppm for transparencies. It prints monochrome at 12ppm. The color printer has a 341MB SCSI internal hard drive.
The IBM Network Printer 17 and IBM Network Printer 12 are 17ppm and 12ppm network printers. All four printers include a simple network management protocol (SNMP) application for network management under 32-bit Windows 95.

Kyocera upgraded its network printers to support SNMP and Plug and Play for easy installation and management.
The Kyocera FS-3600+ prints at 18ppm and 600dpi. It ships standard with 2MB of memory and can be upgraded to 66MB. The Kyocera FS-1600+ prints at 10ppm and 600dpi with the same memory options as the 3600+. The Kyocera FS-1550+ prints at 10ppm and 300dpi, and holds between 1MB and 5MB of memory. The printers stand 9.7 by 13.6 by 13.8 inches and weigh 23 pounds.

The Philips PCA80SC 8X CD-ROM drive is available in internal and external SCSI configurations. It has a 1.2MBps data-transfer rate, 195ms access time and 256KB data buffer. The PCA80SC's power-save feature puts the drive into sleep mode after five minutes of inactivity.

NEC's first 8X CD-ROM drives come in three models. The NEC MultiSpin 8Xi is an internal SCSI model, the NEC MultiSpin 8Xe is an external SCSI model and the NEC MultiSpin 8V is an internal IDE drive. The SCSI models offer advanced dust protection, Play and Stop buttons on the front panel, and an average access time of 130ms. All models transfer data at 1.2MBps. The 8Xe and 8Xi models have an Easy ROM Update feature that lets you upgrade the drive via software.

The LG GoldStar GCD-R580B 8X CD-ROM drive features a dust-proof design and motorized soft-eject front-loading tray. You can mount the IDE unit horizontally or vertically. The 8X drive transfers data at 1.2MBps with an average data access time of 150ms. It has 256KB of buffer memory.
