12/96 Reviews SW: AnyTime DeluxeBy James E. Powell AnyTime Deluxe excels at easy input and simple output, with one of the best PIM interfaces I've seen. It handles contact information with multiple phone numbers, and lets you group contacts and add free-form notes. Recurring appointments are easy to set up, and AnyTime's AutoSchedule function will automatically add, within a new appointment, the name and phone number of the contact with whom you've elected to meet. The program's simple ToDo list conveniently lets you carry over your appointments into the next day. The NoteBook module organizes miscellaneous facts and supports OLE objects dragged to the page. The layout tool helps customize output. AnyTime's predesigned reports are colorful and fit most popular paper-based organizers. Quick Glances offers graphical views of calendars. Clean screen layouts and multiple views of the same information make data entry effortless. The program does lock you into some disappointing limitations, however. AnyTime won't let you create custom fields, and the way it displays lengthy appointments can definitely be confusing. For example, setting an appointment for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. puts the time slot graphically at 3 p.m., which might result in tardiness, missed appointments or profuse apologies if not investigated properly. These limitations will keep AnyTime Deluxe off our WinMag Recommended List. But if good-looking output, easy navigation and straightforward data entry are important to you, make time for AnyTime Deluxe soon.
