Keeping your personal finances on an even keel isn't easy. CreditWise offers tools to help you make informed financial decisions.
To develop a Personal Profile, you fill in the standard name, address, birth date and social security number, as well as employer and job description. Then you provide the details, including information concerning sources of income, deductions, assets, real estate taxes and insurance.
You tackle household expenses next, selecting from CreditWise's list. Or you create your own list, then add in credit obligations.
CreditWise builds graphs of principal credit areas, and its Account Accelerator shows you the effects of additional or larger payments.
The Optimizer function analyzes outstanding debt and suggests what will benefit most from additional payments. The program also includes TRW's Information Services, a dictionary of financial terms and financial calculators.
CreditWise's simplistic user interface gets the basic job done without confusion but bears little resemblance to the financial management and analysis packages you may be used to employing. And if you already use a financial program such as Intuit Quicken or Microsoft Money, I'm afraid that you'll find little here you don't already have.
