If you can't find that elusive Windows app in your local superstore, take a look at shareware. You won't even have to fire up your Web browser-both CompuServe and America Online offer a vast selection of software treats to try. CompuServe has a great list of resources, software and forums (GO: SHAREWARE). If you crave the new and notable, PCNet provides the top 25 shareware downloads. In ASP's Shareware Forum you can talk with shareware authors and users. If you're looking for a specific app, try CIS File Finder. Shareware lets you try before you buy. CompuServe's Shareware Registration (GO: SWREG) lets you register online by charging the cost to your account. Shareware supported in this program will have a registration number in the online documentation. AOL's PC Software Center (Keyword:Shareware) features downloads of the day and the Hall of Fame. You can search AOL for specific files or categories, or download complete file listings.
