Texas Instruments Extensa 900T
A New Lightweight Contender

Tired of gaining weight whenever you travel, just from slinging that notebook PC over your shoulder? Weighing in at just 4.9 pounds, the Texas Instruments Extensa 900T shouldn't even slow you down. The portable includes a 133MHz Pentium, 16MB EDO RAM, a 1.3GB hard drive, 256KB level 2 cache, an external floppy disk drive and an 11.3-inch SVGA TFT display. It includes two stacked 16-bit PC Card slots with Zoomed Video supported on one and 32-bit CardBus ready for videoconferencing.

The system measures 1.5 by 11.7 by 9 inches. If you're willing to bear extra weight for more functionality, a 2.2-pound Mobile Productivity Base includes a modular 8X CD-ROM drive and 32-bit Advanced PCI Card expansion slot. The Advanced PCI Card lets you connect to your network with 100BaseT Ethernet. The notebook also incorporates FireWire technology to manage digital cameras, VCRs and other multimedia products. You also can insert an MPEG II card directly into the system's PCI slot.
