S3's SonicVibes will put audio onto the PCI bus, and its Plato/PX integrates a system controller and graphics accelerator subsystem onto a single chip. SonicVibes is a single-chip processor that moves audio acceleration off the ISA bus. It can reduce the cost of sound from a $250-to-$500 sound card to a $30 piece of silicon. The product might find its way onto system motherboards by the end of the first quarter.
