Is ISDN the phone sex of the '90s? Folks at Bell Atlantic tell us sophisticated kids looking for faster Web access have swamped the company with fraudulent orders for ISDN hookup, particularly the flat-rate $236-a-month deal. Of course, Mom and Dad find out soon enough when they get that extra-high bill the next month and promptly cancel the service. The whole episode annoys just about everyone involved. Previously, if you stayed connected all day, your monthly bill would be in the $1,800 range. Things get even more interesting when your wunderkind wants to be a Webmaster, too.
