NetWorker 4.3, Legato Systems' new entry in the Windows NT backup market, is designed to protect mission-critical data and applications. It provides internationalized file-system support, as well as integration with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Windows NT 4.0.

According to the company, NetWorker 4.3 offers comprehensive data protection for multiplatform environments (UNIX, Netware, NT and so on), consistent networkwide administration from a single workstation console, and extensive tape and media management.

NetWorker 4.3 has earned the Microsoft BackOffice logo. Hence, it runs as a Windows NT Server service, supports enterprisewide single integrated NT log-on, and can be deployed automatically by Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), a tool for electronic software distribution and remote PC inventory.

Separately, Legato has shipped NetWorker options for performing online backups of Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange Server. By the time you read this, Legato should also be offering NT backup agents for Oracle databases and SAP's R/3 client-server software.
