Microsoft Solution Provider Octopus Technologies (recently acquired by Qualix Group of San Mateo, Calif.) aims to make your disasters less painful with its disaster recovery and fault-tolerance software. The company's Octopus 2.0 offering comes with Super ASO (Automatic Switch Over), which allows any Windows NT server to assume the functions of a downed NT server in less than 1 second. This protection is provided by Octopus across LANs and WANs on a per-file basis. Octopus 2.0 also features an intuitive user interface and completely configurable data synchronization (even for open files).
