Don't fence me in

I couldn't agree more with Mr. Henderson (Enterprise Administrator, December 1996) about upgrade problems. But as a typical end user, I have to disagree with him regarding a locked-up Registry. I have had to make many manual changes to my Registry to resolve conflicts after software and hardware upgrades and new installations. I don't want some special program to unlock my Registry in order to make these changes.

I don't want my personal computer to be like the factory I work in, where people put locks on the toolboxes.
