You have to be in a pretty unsavory environment to catch an infection from a sofa-unless you're talking about the latest Excel virus by that name. The second Excel virus to appear (the first was Laroux), sofa replaces the Microsoft logo on Excel's splash screen to read "Microsofa." Okay, so it pokes fun at a monolithic giant-is that so bad? Actually, yes, since it can also wipe out your personal macros file. To help identify infection-but not clean it-you can download the Microsoft Excel Virus Search 1.2 Add-In at http://www.microsoft.com/msexcel/productinfo/vbavirus/add_in.htm, where there are also instructions for its installation and use. Alternatively, call Microsoft's AnswerPoint Information Services at 206-635-7070 to get the tool and follow the instructions. Copyright (c) 1997 CMP Media Inc.
