NT Enterprise
When Microsoft released Transaction Server (formerly code-named Viper), its OLE-enabled transaction monitor for Windows NT Server, the company said related third-party development tools would follow shortly. Enter Vision Software's Vision Builder Release 2.5, one of the first application development tools to support Transaction Server. You can use Vision Builder 2.5 to create multitier business applications that use OLE-based objects running inside Transaction Server, rather than writing complicated database triggers and stored procedures. It's also possible to use Microsoft's distributed COM (DCOM) application programming interface as the plumbing for interaction between Vision Builder clients and Microsoft's SQL Server database. Vision Builder also supports application targeting; that is, it can automatically create applications for multiple architectures, including Internet, intranet and distributed client/server configurations. $3,995 Vision Software Tools 800-984-SOFT, 510-238-4100 Copyright (c) 1997 CMP Media Inc.
