We have been studying music technology in our music class. Our teacher gave us Todd Rundgren's column (Dialog Box, November 1996) and asked us to write an essay on his idea of selling music over the Internet.We think it might succeed because you would be able to buy only one or two songs and not have to pay for a whole CD. You don't even have to leave the house. And you could listen to the songs before you decided to buy. We think it might fail because not everybody has a computer. Also, you can't listen to your computer in the car or when you're at a party. We had other ideas about the future of music technology. You could wear an earring that had a microchip holding music, and you would hear it directly in your ear. Or maybe there will be a machine that makes a hologram of the band playing, with CD-quality sound. Regina Doyle's 8th grade music class
