Bugs: Many NT 4.0 users have decided that the best way to ensure reliability is to avoid Service Pack 2 (SP2), which seems to introduce more bugs than it fixes. Spin control: Despite Microsoft VP Jim Allchin's assertion that NT Workstation and Server are "totally different," skeptics note that the entire SP2 can be applied to NTS and NTW. More bugs: Microsoft Fax beta users report that it works fine-as long as you're logged in as an administrator. Log in as a regular user, however, and all bets are off. Tired name: Funk Software recently introduced a new NT product called Steel Belted Radius. Time to rotate the marketing department? Server-only security: Many NT Workstation 4.0 users in secure environments say they're amazed-and very unhappy-to discover that 128-bit encryption is available only for NT Server. Spicy situation: Novell has stopped using "Tabasco" as the code name for a forthcoming NDS/NT Domain integration tool. It seems Tabasco Brand Pepper Sauce maker McIlhenny Co. threatened a dash of legal action. Sad day for CNEs: A quick scan of Internet newsgroups since the first of this year reveals that NT employment messages outnumbered their NetWare counterparts 2-to-1. Saying no to 4.0: Texas Instruments has delayed a mass upgrade from NTS 3.x to 4.x . The reason? Microsoft's restrictive NTS 4.0 licensing.
