Your review of the Bose Acoustimass Multimedia Speaker System (Reviews, January) was impressive. I'm glad to see your magazine recommending good speakers. It is obvious that Marc Spiwak knows and appreciates the value of good dynamic sound reproduction. Dr. Amar Bose is considered the father of current speaker technology-there are Bose speakers, and then there are all the others. As an audio engineer trained in the art of refined speaker technology, I am baffled when people spend thousands for a home PC, then opt for a set of cheap, rattling, popping, plastic toy speakers that sound no better than an inexpensive boom box. You don't have to be an audiophile for your ears to appreciate good, clean, accurate sound. Bill Haupt Pasadena, Calif.
