Microsoft's decision to remove SHARE.EXE from Windows 95 in OEM Service Release 2 will likely peeve some DOS and 16-bit Windows developers. DOS-mode-only programs that currently rely on Share will cease to function, since SHARE.EXE's job has now been taken over by VSHARE.VXD, which only works under Windows. You might be able to trick DOS programs that run under Windows and 16-bit Windows programs into working by creating a zero-byte file called SHARE.EXE in the root or DOS directory-for example, by using Notepad or by placing the string SHARE.EXE in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
