Dell Latitude XPi and XPi CD
NT Workstation Leaves the Office

The Dell Latitude XPi and XPi CD portables are hitting the road with Windows NT Workstation 4.0.

The laptops contain proprietary advanced power management (APM) and Plug-and-Play features unavailable in NT until later this year. Dell's APM technology controls PC Card power settings, clock synchronization and power usage levels. Monitor battery life by clicking on a taskbar icon. The Plug-and-Play features support hot swapping of most popular PC Card modems and network adapters.

The XPi includes a 133MHz Pentium processor, 16MB of RAM, a 1.4GB hard drive, an 11.3-inch SVGA active-matrix color display, a 10BaseT Ethernet card and a 33.6Kbps PC Card modem. The XPi CD comes with the same memory configuration, a 150MHz Pentium, a 12.1-inch SVGA TFT display and an internal 6X CD-ROM drive. Applications such as Microsoft Office or Norton Utilities can be preloaded.

XPi, from $3,277; XPi CD, from $3,999
