Here's a hot investment tip: Take a look at Wall Street Analyst. The program has been updated and released as a Deluxe version that offers the beginning investor dozens of fundamental and technical indicators for tracking securities. New ExpertTools include the Automatic Trendline Indicator, which calculates current and historic significant high and low points (both long and short term), connecting and extending them into the future. ChartScanner, in addition to scanning all your charts and generating a list of the bulls and bears, can spot trendline breakouts- points where a security's price varies significantly from the current upward or downward trend. The new Instant Japanese Candlestick Chart Pattern Recognition tool labels each pattern (including Morning Stars and Island Reversals) on the bar where it occurs. You'll also find multimedia analysis (video or just text) using the expert systems of technical analysts Larry Williams and Thomas DeMark. Wall Street Analyst Deluxe supports 25 fundamental data fields that you can download (the program supports the Dial Data service and Telescan), and includes historical stock earnings, dividends, stock splits and P/E ratios for more than 7,000 stocks on its CD-ROM. The CD includes 25 years of historical price and volume data for over 18,000 issues trading on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ, as well as Canadian, stock exchanges. You can now search for both fundamental data and technical indicators (but you can't do custom indicators); you can also seek stocks with low P/E ratio and increasing price. Though Wall Street Analyst Deluxe won't replace a good broker, its price and output make it an attractive investment.
