Patch pickin'

Dribbleware is a necessary evil of any development project (Start, February). It takes time to build a product, and it is impossible to keep up with customer demands during the development process. But I would like to see a more systematic approach to patches. I think that the patches should be similar to the original product, so that the user/administrator may do a customized installation. The ability to pick and choose would give the user a chance to fix what is specifically wrong without fixing what might not be broken.
