Letters
According to the "ethical" view put forth by Jeff Byers (Dialog Box, March), if I want to read a new magazine, I should just steal it. If I want to try a different brand of gasoline, I can fill my tank and drive away without paying for it. If a new restaurant opens, I go in and eat, then walk out without paying for it. According to Mr. Byers, all of the people I have stolen from will overlook my stealing since I might one day become a customer. Bob Merzi via the Internet I have to say I agree with the letter by Mr. Sarfraz from Pakistan about legitimate vs. pirated software (Letters, February). The average worker in Hong Kong may use Microsoft products on the job, but he or she does not earn enough to pay the high price of legitimate software for personal use. If pirated software didn't exist, I'll bet the popularity of Microsoft's products wouldn't be as high as it is now. Andrew Wong via the Internet
