SearchPal
You've Got a Friend To Search the Net

-- by Cheryl Dominianni

Looking for an assistant to research items for you? SearchPal, an Internet search tool, operates from whichever Windows tool you're using.

For example, if a colleague refers to an unfamiliar product in an e-mail, simply highlight the term and click on the SearchPal icon. The program captures the text and searches for information on that product using a major search engine such as Yahoo, AltaVista, Deja News, Excite, Infoseek, Lycos or WebCrawler. If results from one engine are inadequate, choose another and start over without retyping the search text.

SearchPal also features a "Go to content provider" option to immediately take you to a specified site. The software contains URLs for HotWired, c/net, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and CMP Media publications. You can add as many content providers as you like.
