(The notion of TV on your PC was generally not well-received by our readers. What's your favorite 3D program? And, when does shareware become fair game?) Bravo for the article on TV and the Web (Dialog Box, June). Trying to give the Web and its interface a more TV-like appearance is reminiscent of the old penny banks that looked like elaborate toys-but all they did was deposit a penny in the bank. The Web was originally meant to dispense information, regardless of how creatively or elaborately it was delivered. Have we spent years trying to get kids off the sofa and into education just to replace the desk with a love seat? The Web and TV are two different media; they should remain separate until a significantly better integration can be found. Chris N. Kleczynski via the Internet I couldn't possibly agree more with Richard Castagna. Who wants television on their computer? Not me. I don't even watch the TV I have. I use my PC for learning and communicating, not vegging out. Lisa DaFoe via the Internet I disagree with Richard Castagna. PC users will definitely want to take advantage of this new technology. First, if people can integrate their PC and TV, they'd have less equipment to worry about. Second, people will want DVD, and they can have one DVD drive instead of two.
