-- If you're an IS guru who distributes system Registry changes by e-mailing REG files, your users might have found that some entries can't be incorporated by double-clicking on a REG file. Lab testing coordinator John Yacono has discovered an interesting workaround: Have your users drag and drop the REG file to Regedit's title bar. This seems to work every time. -- Editor Mike Elgan tells us that a new Dial-Up Networking adapter is available as beta software for Windows 95. In addition to the ISDN adapter, Multilink, and scripting support added by its ISDN Accelerator Pack predecessor, the software adds a Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol client. Check it out at http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/info/pptp4w95.htm. -- Wiping out a DriveSpace 3 compressed volume should be as easy as formatting a hard drive. But try to do a format from the DOS prompt, and you're told you must run DriveSpace 3 (from Windows) to format a compressed volume. Of course DriveSpace 3 will not let you reformat the system volume, so you're stuck. Technical associate David Hafke boots with an old DOS 5 diskette (from the precompression days) and reformats the drive.
