The latest scuttlebutt in the NT industry...

• Alpha grapevine: Sources at Digital recently asked us if Micron was going to sell Alpha PCs. We hadn't heard that rumor, but we agreed to spread it.
• Help wanted: We hear Novell has hired a prominent executive search firm to find the networking company a new VP of marketing. We turned down the offer.
• Split personality: IBM recently warned journalists that NT isn't ready for the enterprise. A week later, IBM servers were spotted at Microsoft's enterprise event, Scalability Day.
• Hit the road: One of our favorite products, Traveling Software's LapLink, is finally available for NT. It costs $149.
• Directory showdown: Microsoft Active Directory will ship on NT and UNIX next year. Perhaps Bill G. is concerned about Novell NDS becoming a cross-platform standard?
• Better late than never: After two years of promises, Artisoft is finally porting all of its products to NT.
• Microsoft arcade: NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 includes DirectX support. Quake for NT, anyone?
• See the world the UNIX way: Apache, the most popular Web server for UNIX, is now freely available for NT. All you need to do is buy Softway Systems' OpenNT to run it.
